Brabham BT18 1966 was owned & driven by Roly Levis who competed in the New Zealand Gold Star series and was successful in winning the championship for 1966-67 Roly won the 1967 New Zealand Grand Prix with the Brabham. And went on to race the car in many other events during 1967 |

Allan McCully sold the Car to Murry Baker who fitted the car with a 4945cc Chevy V8 and raced the car as a formula 5000 renaming it the “ELK” The Braham remained as a F5000 for several owners: Tom Donavan Richard Trewsdale : painted the car red, but never completed the build, this was how David Currie brought her in Queen town. |
In 1992 Rodin Wootton took over the driving duties, racing the car and winning the next 5 championships for Charlie of Chequered Flag Race Cars. During the off season 1997 an agreement was made to buy and restore the Brabham to its present day standard By Bruce Wootton. |
Charlie Conway of Chequered Flag Race Cars Ltd, Brought the Brabham from David Currie in April 1986 and Ran the car in the newly formed historic race car series and made many guest appearances with drivers such as Sterling Moss, Danny Hulme and Kenny Smith. |
Roly sold the Brabham to Tony Shaw who raced it at Ruapuna June 1967, Tony started the 1967-68 season well in Formula 2 However he handed the drive back to Roly from the Baypark meeting to finish the series. Tony continued to race the car from the Christmas meeting. Tony Shaw sold the Car to Alan McCully in 1968 |

David restored her back to a Formula 2 car David Currie and Ken White {partners} 1984- the duo also owned a sister car : Brabham BT 18 chassis number AM 144 {known as the blue car} this was previously owned by Bruce Harre and driven by Graham Laurence, the intention was to race both cars, however after an incident at Whenuapai air base with Ken White at the wheel both men parted ways and Brabham Am168 was sold to Charlie Conway. The blue car now solely owned by David Currie was eventually sold overseas 4 years later |
In 2008, Bruce and Rodin where invited to race at Eastern Creek, Sydney, Australia. For the Tasman revival meeting, the car pick up same good placing 3rd in the rain, 4th and a 5th in the scratch races and a 7th in the final. |
November 2010 will see the Brabham back at Eastern creek once more for another Tasman revival. |

In 1968 the southland sports car club held there first Teretonga Championship meeting, the main event, “the Andrew Housing Feature race” was won by local driver Allan McCully of Drummond in his newly acquired Brabham BT18. |
